Thomas Beds

We have had a crazy history with beds.  A crib was given to us shortly before Devin was born and he slept in it until Layne was born, and then we were given a toddler bed for Devin.  They slept in those beds for a year and a half and then suddenly, within two months, they had destroyed both beds.  Devin and Layne would climb into the crib and jump on the poor thing like a trampoline until it finally snapped.  The toddler bed had been coming apart for some time, and one good jump split the side rail.  We set up the pack and play for Layne to sleep in and used zip ties to strap Devin's toddler bed together.

Having just purchased a new house, we were very short on funds and had no way of paying for two beds, so we watched Craigslist and found a super deal on a nice wooden set of bunk beds.  One mattress was even included with the beds.  Unfortunately, we needed two mattresses.We lined the top bunk with shower boards so it made a nice little play area, and then we put his crib mattress on it.  Half the time he would end up rolling off the crib mattress and sleeping on the boards.  On occassion when he would pee the bed, it would make a huge mess.  Naturally, I have been anxious to replace the makeshift bed with a real one.  With Ben's Christmas bonus, we were able to buy a foam mattress to go on the top bunk.  It was less than a hundred dollars at Mattress Giant and it is very short, so the gaurd rails are nice and high so Devin won't fall out of bed.  

Grandma and Grandpa Cutler generously purchased a couple of Thomas the Train comforters.  The boys love sleeping with Thomas and his friends every night.
