Ben and I took the kids to East Texas to go berry picking. In Larue, there is a little berry farm called, The Blueberry Basket. You can pick berries there in their berry patch and buy them for ten dollars a bucket. You can see from the pictures that the buckets are very good sized. We picked two baskets of blueberries and one of blackberries.
Unfortunately, we got out there later than we had planned and we ended up picking during the heat of the day. We arrived at the patch at 11:00 and didn't leave until 4:00. It was a long day! It felt like we were in an oven. When we left, we were as sticky, as covered in bugs, and as ripe as one of the blackberries in our basket!
Layne loved feeding Wesley blueberries.
The boys picked quite a few berries, but hardly any made it into the baskets.

I can't even imagine staying out in the Texas heat that long. You guys are amazing!
We are going to freeze them and then use them in salads, on Cheerios, in pies, in pancakes, and in muffins. I have also been trying out some fun cold soups using pureed fruits and vegetables. It is so hot around here that the thought of eating cold food really appeals.
How FUN! We love berry picking too. Layne and Wesley look so much alike in those photos! Your boys are adorable!
