Peaches

It is peach season here in Texas and we have been buying a bunch. It seems strange that the best place to buy peaches around here is right in the heart of downtown Dallas, but it's true. We were able to buy a bushel of sweet, ripe, red-skinned Alberta peaches for $30 at the farmer's market. It is kind of a pain because the farmers come at night around 10:00 and sell their produce in bulk all night long. With two sleepy little boys, that makes it tough. Fortunately, Mindie stayed at home with the boys so Ben and I could make our midnight run for the peaches. It took a couple of days, but we bottled all of them. Now we have almost thirty quart jars of home canned peaches. Not bad for about a dollar a jar!
